Nicki Minaj & Ice Spice’s “Barbie World” used in Jeopardy question
In 2023, Nicki Minaj and Ice Spice have both had massive years. Moreover, they’ve also had two collaborations, this year. These have included Spice’s “Princess Diana” remix, as well as “Barbie World” on the “Barbie” soundtrack, which also included the original Barbie artist, Aqua.
As a result, Barbie World went on to peak at number seven in the US, on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Moreover, it also earned three Grammy nominations, last week. These were for Best Rap Song, Best Song Written For Visual Media, and Best Compilation Soundtrack for Visual Media.
Meanwhile, Barbie World has even reached television shows. In a recent episode “Jeopardy,” it was used in a pop music category, for $1,000, on November 17.
However, when a contestant was asked which artist that Barbie World is by, he struggled to correctly name the answer. He mentioned Aqua, who is actually part of this song, but isn’t the main artist. This mistake may have simply been a case of nostalgia from the Barbie World record from the 1990s, but this contestant definitely came close, since Aqua was also featured on the latest version.
