Lil Flip Pays Homage To Fellow SUC Member Big Pokey –

Posted on September 19, 2023

Lil Flip has wasted no time in paying tribute to his late friend Big Pokey, delivering a new freestyle in honor of the Screwed Up Click member who passed away over the weekend.

On Monday (June 19), the Clover G let it be known how much misses his Houston compadre, reminiscing about the good times coming up with him as part of DJ Screw’s famed collective through song.

Spitting over the beat for Screw’s “June 27th” Freestyle — the original of which Big Pokey appears with a scene-stealing verse — Lil Flip begins by explaining how he can’t believe his friend has gone and shares how he discovered the news.

“I never thought I’d have to make a R.I.P. Big Pokey song/ Man, I got the news last night when I was headed home/ On my way from Fayetteville, I had a show with Live Sosa/ In my bedroom I used to have the Hardest Pit poster.”

Fliparachi then went on to praise Pokey for his mic skills and pen game while taking solace in the fact that he’s now reunited with fellow SUC stars DJ Screw and Big Moe, who died in 2000 and 2007 respectively.

“You was a fool with the flow, you was a fool with the pen,” he raps. “‘Keep My Name Out Yo Mouth,’ that was my favorite track by you/ Boys couldn’t keep up with you, Poke, it’s like they had a flat tyre/ ‘Cause down South, man, we be rollin’ on choppers/ Now you up there with Screw and Moe, now all of ya can watch us.”
